Using Messages Inbox with a screen reader

Checking your Messages

After navigating to the Messages page, the Message are located under the Messages (main) navigation landmark. Use the tab key to scroll through your messages. Pressing spacebar on select message will select that message for being deleted. Use the screen reader's down arrow function to read additional details of the message including user name, age, location, and date message was sent. Pressing enter or using the screen reader’s click function in any of these fields will open the message. After tabbing through all messages, the delete button will be selected. Pressing enter on the delete button will delete all selected messages.

Reading your Messages

Once you have found a message you wish to read, press the enter button or use the screen reader’s click function to open that message. After the message is open, you can use the down arrow function to read the email. After the messages has been read, you can select the Delete option to delete the message. Hit tab once more to go to the reply option. Press enter or the screen reader’s click function to reply to the message. To return to the list of messages, navigate to the message folder list navigation landmark and select the messages option.

Replying to a message

After clicking reply, navigate to the landmark. Press tab to begin entering your message. After you have finished entering your reply, hit tab again to highlight the send action. Press the enter key or your screen reader’s click function to send the message. An alert will let you know that your message has been sent. To return to the list of messages, navigate to the message folder list navigation landmark and select the messages option.

Profile Capture

From the greeting page for profile capture, there is a link available to screen reader users to switch to the accessibility-friendly flow. The pages given to the user once this flow is enabled are optimized for navigation via the screen reader.
